Re: I can’t cope

Sorry my mistake it’s called Lego factory

Re: I can’t cope

Cool, will give you @Bow and @tyme a run down shortly

Re: I can’t cope

Oh! Gotcha @Captain24 . So I'm assuming a 'block' are the few days straight that you work?

It sounds exhausting to have to follow up on it all the time... fingers crossed it goes smoothly.

Re: I can’t cope

Ohhh yeah.. maybe I haven’t ever explained that before. @tyme Yes we call our shifts a block. It’s not really a week it’s just 5 days with 5 off.

Have you managed to get your sleep sorted or had your iron checked?

Re: I can’t cope

Oh! That makes sense. @Captain24 So that's what a block is.

I still haven't slept much but it seems okay. I'm not actually sleepy - yet. Don't know if this means I'm in for a slippery slope. Who knows? It's okay. We'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Rubyrose had her injection today so she will be able to go for walks soon.

How's Jett going?

Re: I can’t cope

I hope you can catch it before it happens @tyme. How much sleep are you getting? How’s your sleep hygiene? Hahaha listen to me 😂 Sometimes I should ask myself the same questions. But seriously I hope you are ok and I am always welling to return what you have done for me.

Thats good, you’ll have a reason to go walking! 😜 Just so you know I am actually laughing right now! It’s really hurting my back.

Jett is fine, I’m now wondering how long it has been a problem. Just so you know it can happen to Ruby too is a small dog issue!

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 @tyme @Bow

WELCOME TO….

THE LEGO FACTORY!!!

Players 2-3.

Ages 5+

Naming rights are Copyrighted to - Arradreaming’s son 2023.

Warning - Do not play when your patience is already thin at one another.

The kids have to be ok with pulling apart what they have made in previous rounds as it is unlikely you are running a literal LEGO factory from your house.

Teaches: communication, fine motor skills, patience, team work, empathy

Each player takes a role, these are

Builder

Picture Holder (Brickman)

Supplier (You can play without)

The game:

We have a bunch of printed pictures of stuff we have made (car, bird etc) super super basic stuff or even pictures off google.

And one person picks the picture from the pile (Brickman) and has to explain to the Builder which peices they have to use and where they have to go to make the build eg “put a white square on the blue rectangle” until either the timer is up or the build is complete. The timer is completely optional, use your discretion with this one.

The Brickman is not allowed to touch the peices, or physically guide the Builder in one what to do.

You can add a third person in and they are the “supplier” but you can play without them, this works because the picture holder aka Brickman explains to the Supplier what is needed then the builder makes it under the brickman’s direction (as per directions above), the supplier is just a third party. Eg Brickman might say, “supplier I need a yellow square” they then search for the yellow square and hand it to the Brickman.

Rotate all roles.

—————

It is a great test for kids to learn about communicating and how important giving clear directions is. But also if you rotate around the different roles it helps develop kids empathy because they realise how hard it is trying to put something together with minimal direction and vice versa, watching someone try to put something together and having to learn to step back and let them try it etc.

Great for our 6yo in that sense.

Re: I can’t cope

So the builder actually has no idea what they are building @ArraDreaming ? They are just placing pieces where they are told.

Re: I can’t cope

Yep - @Bow
If it helps with little ones we do give hits or say it’s animal etc

Re: I can’t cope

Lol, I think it will turn into a screaming match at our house here. I don't know how you do it lol @ArraDreaming

I reckon the kids here will start throwing verbal attacks at each other e.g "What's wrong with you?" "Don't you listen?" "Are you dull?" "I hate playing with you!"

Or, I was listening to my niece1 on the ipad speaking to my other niece2 in Sydney. Niece1 said "Do you want to play a game?" Neice2 says "No". LOL Full stop. That was it.

CAn you take a photo of the cards @ArraDreaming ?

@Captain24 ... yes! That's why I'm going for walks now! My back is also very bad. I didn't wear orthotics for 3 days and it's put my back out of whack. Today someone said, "you're walking very crooked"... and it's true. So the walks at the circuit park at the end of my court is great.

Sleep hygiene? It's pretty structured and regular. But maybe I'm getting OLD, and just need less sleep? Who knows?
