Re: All Things Sport...

Good evening @ENKELI @Zoe7 @TAB @Glisten @Emelia8 @Shaz51 @tyme and all sports lovers. Lots of sporting action has been on this past weekend with plenty of close games in both the AFL and the NRL, not to mention golf and the qualifiers of the US tennis open happening.

The good  news for me is that the Brisbane Lions are playing the AFL finals in 2 weeks at the Gabba in Brisbane against Carlton. This should be a good game provided the boys know how to kick actual goals instead of 1 point behinds. Fingers crossed for a good result! If we do make it to the Grand Final, I’ll be watching it at sea in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in the way to the Great Barrier Reef on a cruise ship holiday so it should be an interesting and enjoyable time!

In the NRL, Melbourne Storm have secured the minor premiership which I’m very happy about, despite 2 more rounds to go in the regular season. Let’s hope the Storm can go the whole way this year! My only concern is that if Melbourne do get into the Grand Final, I’m hoping my Qantas flight home from Sydney lands on time and I’m home for the match at 7pm on 6/10.

In terms of the US open tennis qualifying rounds, an Australian player named Destanee Aiava has made it to the main women’s draw which is great news as she’s had mental health issues in the past few years and I’m very proud of her. She’s a local player and I’ve actually met her at the Australian Open a few years ago so I’m hoping she does well over at Flushing Meadow in New York. I’m also cheering on Alex Di Minaur as well for the mens draw and hoping he does well.

Enjoy your sports and may the best teams and players win!

Re: All Things Sport...

Hi @Glisten @Zoe7 @TAB @ENKELI @Emelia8 @tyme @Shaz51 and all sports lovers here. I hope you’ve been watching and enjoying your chosen sports over the past few days.

The US tennis open has started with several Aussies getting through to the 2nd round including Alex Di Minaur, Alexi Poprin, and several others which is great to hear. I’ve also just been watching the opening ceremony this afternoon of the Paralympic Games on TV which was replayed and I’m enjoying it so far. I’m really looking forward to watching the sports in the Paralympic Games as the athletes are very talented with how they perform and I really admire them. It just goes to show that sport is for everyone, regardless of the disability a person may have.

Tonight, I’m watching the NRL on TV with Melbourne Storm playing the Cowboys. See below for the games this round.

There’s no AFL matches this weekend with the finals starting next weekend. Hopefully Brisbane Lions practice their goal kicking and know how to kick some more goals when they play Carlton! The AFLW starts tomorrow night and I believe there are some NRLW games being played as well - they started their season a few weeks ago but Melbourne Storm don’t have a team so I don’t usually follow it.

Enjoy your sports!

Re: All Things Sport...

Hello @Glisten @TAB @TAB @ENKELI @Emelia8 @tyme @Lauz @Shaz51 and all sport lovers here. I hope your sports teams and players have had a great week!

I’ve been watching the Paralympics on TV the past 2 nights and managed to watch the NRL match of Melbourne Storm vs Cowboys last night which the Storm lost unfortunately in Townsville. The Penrith Panthers won over the Rabbitohs tonight and so did Manly over the Bulldogs.

I’ve included the rest of the NRL matches below for the rest of the weekend as well. Next weekend, the Storm play the Broncos in Brisbane and I’m really hoping that Ryan Papenhauzen returns as he did a corked calf last night and had to leave the field injured 15 minutes into the match. The finals are looking to be very interesting with only Melbourne and Penrith guaranteed to play at least 2 finals games in the first 2 rounds.

The Paralympic Games have been really interesting with me watching the swimming, wheelchair rugby and basketball along with the opening ceremony on repeat yesterday. I’ve also seen some of the athletics as well which is really inspiring and interesting.

The US Tennis Open has been good for the Aussies with Alex Di Minaur, Jordan Thompson and Alexi Poprin through to the 3rd round. Let’s hope they can continue their good form and go deep into the competition.

The AFLW started tonight with Sydney, Collingwood, West Coast Eagles and Richmond starting their seasons tonight. I’m hoping that the Brisbane Lions girls can continue their excellent form from last season and win the Grand Final like they did last year.

Enjoy your sports!

No, I've not watched any of the Paralympics...I didn't watch any of the Olympics either, though.

But I must come back and read @Judi9877  's sport report later!
