Re: All Things Sport...

My Sydney Sixers recovered from a bad start, set a half reasonable score ... then were good enough to defend the 144 they set. A good win to the men in magenta.

Looking forward to day two of the Ashes Test tomorrow.

Re: All Things Sport...

I looked at the score today and was shocked by it lol @Judi9877
How good is it.

Cricket is the winner ha

Re: All Things Sport...

Hi @Zoe7 , spotted you around.

Really hope you are feeling better?

I expect you would be happy to hear that Hobart has been awarded the 5th Ashes Test. Maybe you will be able to attend? Its in mid Jan, so school holidays.

Re: All Things Sport...

Still not great @Emelia8 but getting there 👍

I did not know the fifth test match had been officially confirmed for Hobart so thank you for letting me know. I don't think I will be attending - to be honest I have lost a lot of interest in test cricket after the latest issues. I still cannot believe Smith was awarded the vice captaincy role - if the powers that be are serious about changing the culture of the team then bringing him back into the fold is a step backwards. I have no doubt he is a great leader within the team but to look forward I believe they needed a different direction.

Re: All Things Sport...

Wow, what a wonderful young woman Ash Barty is.  And what a great comeback in the second set to come back from 1/5 down to win it.  I was so thrilled for her.

I was almost as happy for the great Rafa Nadal to come back to win his match after being seemingly down and out after losing the first 2 sets.

We have two fantastic tennis champions and great ambassadors, in Barty and Nadal, for our Australian Open singles winners.

I could not be happier.  I got my wish for both winners, something I had hoped for from the start of the competition.

Re: All Things Sport...

HI all

My team had a very ordinary season in the A League womens comp, but I like following how it's going in the finals. I hope Victory can knock one of the dominant top 2 - Sydney FC and Melbourne City.

Read this recently about one of their players and it made me smile.

Re: All Things Sport...

Hey @frog I have very little interest in the A league - would be a different story if Tassie had a team though ...maybe one day - for both soccer and AFL ...we deserve both.

Re: All Things Sport...

Hi @frog @Zoe7 @Emelia8 @MDT @Eve7 @Shaz51 and all sports lovers here. Just popping in to say hello and to check in on the world of sport.

@frog I’m so glad you’re into soccer. I’m not but I’m happy to cheer along with others!

AFL starts this Wednesday with my team, the Brisbane Lions taking on Port Power on Saturday night. Go the Lions! NRL started on Friday night with Melbourne Storm winning against the West Tigers but we have injury concerns so I’m not too sure how their season will go to be honest. We play the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Thursday night so that should be an interesting matchup.

Talk later!
