Not into motorsport @Daisydreamer - probably my least favourite of all sports ...along with golf!
Absolutely floored by Ash's retirement - but as always she has done it her way and I look forward to what the next chapter of her life brings for her. She is one exceptional human.

No more Barty party…what a champion.
Finally I’m flying south tomorrow.

Am new to this thread. It’s amazing how many different sports topics that have been covered.
So here goes to see if I’m on the right track.
I am a massive (Wayne) Benny fan. So I’m automatically tipping the rabbits to win the premiership this year
Secondly, are there any walkers, hikers or orienteers out there? If so, has anyone been out amongst it lately?

Hi @Delicatessen and welcome to our sports thread. Not a walker, hiker or orienteer myself but there are many here on the forums that especially like to walk or hike. Have not seen anyone that does orienteering but had a friend who used to and she loved it.
I am a Parra supporter so we may have some interesting games this year as we can usually run hot and cold. Hoping for a more consistent year this year but we will see what unfolds.

Good evening sports fans! Just checking in via a very happy mood to let the AFL fans know that the mighty Brisbane Lions won against Collingwood tonight by 7 wonderful points! That means we are officially top of the ladder once again and that makes me feel very happy indeed. What a great way to start Easter off with! Go the Brisbane Lions 🦁 ❤️💛💙!
@Delicatessen I’ll admit that I’m a big fan of Wayne Bennett despite being a Melbourne Storm girl myself and I have a lot of respect for the guy. My sister had his book at one point which I read and quite enjoyed and she was lucky enough to meet him many years ago at Coogee Beach as the Brisbane Broncos were staying at the same hotel as she was staying at. I’m also still a long time fan of the ex referee Bill Harrigan as well if you remember him by chance? Again, my sister had his book which I read and really enjoyed.
As for Ash Barty retiring, I’ll admit that shocked me but I can understand why she’s done it. She knew she wouldn’t be able to win the US Open - something about the weight of the tennis balls I believe - and yet she won all of the other 3 slams so that’s a massive achievement for her. I didn’t expect her to win the Australian Open so I was very happy when she achieved that tournament win which was very well deserved by the way. Good luck to her with her future endeavours I say!
Take care and may your sports team win!

@Delicatessen I am a Parra supporter but do have a soft spot for Manly as one of our previous Community Managers here was a one eyed Manly supporter and her and I had many conversations on the NRL, sport and life in general over the years - miss her a lot 😔
